whimsicalmusing: Uses/Recipes for coconut oil?

I just purchased a big jar of coconut oil to use as part of a natural deodorant recipe and I wanted to know if anyone has a recipe or suggestions on use for hair or skin? The jar says it's good for personal health use in addition to cooking and I'd never be able to use this big jar on just the deodorant batches alone. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hello, everyone!!

So I have micros in now to prevent breakage in the winter months, and in a month or two they'll be due to be taken out. I was wondering if anyone's had any experience with Dominican hair salons? I've been natural since 2002, and have no desire to perm my hair again, and I've heard that Dominican treatments are a great alternative. Still, I'm hesitant. Any stories to share?

ms_l: trimming locs?

anyone ever trim or have advice on trimming locks?

i started locking in january...my locs stop just under my ears. they were started with a comb and now i've just been twisting w/ my fingers and palm rolling them myself. i like wearing them down but fear the "hot neck" once they get longer lol. im just afraid they might unravel or that the ends will look strange.

What is the difference between shampoos and conditioners that have naturally derived ingredients and the organic ones? I'm trying to stay away from SLS because I think that is what has been making my locs dull and hard
